Family Health History Can Help Save Your Life!

Know your family health history. I encourage all of you to participate in the US Surgeon General’s Family History Initiative. The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services website has the information. Go online to access free software called “My Family Health Portrait” (https://familyhistory.hhs.gov) to help document your relatives’ health history.

My new Filing 101 book has a section on Organizing Important Documents and this is one more tool for you to use in being prepared in case of personal or family emergency. We know some diseases can run in families. Knowing your family health history can save your life and the lives of those you love. Share the information with your family and your physicians.
